I agree to an extent. I do think that sometimes, people put too much esteem on celebrities. They believe that they can do no wrong, and when they do end up doing something wrong, fans think their world is about to end. Celebrities are humans too! The same problems that are being publicized about celebrities are the same stories that regular people tell each other about their family, friends, neighbors, etc. Yes it was wrong of Tiger, but he's not the first to make this 'mistake'. (And I don't think he'll be the last).

Now, with the whole role model kick, that's a give and take. Some people can be seen as role models, because they are model citizens. They give people hope that they could one day fill their shoes. The mistakes that celebrities make are often humbling because it shows that they are not invincible. Once people realize that to make mistakes and learn from them is human, we'll be alright. :)

Call me a heretic but modern American Society has to stop believing that famous people should arbitrarily fall into a category labeled "role model". These people are not role models, they are human beings. It doesn't surprise me at all that Tiger cheated on his wife, and when you really think about it, it doesn't matter. The fact that people care so much amazes me. Who cares? The fact of the matter is he can swing a golf club like no other, he is quite possibly the best that ever played the game of golf... Period! There is nothing beyond that.
