Are you one of the great number of people who are looking for a job in this struggling economic market? If so, you may be interested in attending the MEGA Job Fair in Huntsville at the Von Braun Center on Monday, August 23rd from 10 am to 4:30 pm.
This job fair will be focusing on engineering, science and technology, healthcare, and professional jobs. There will be at least 40 vendors attending, taking resumes and meeting possible candidates. The Huntsville Times website has links to the various companies that will be attending. It’s always a good idea to research which companies you want to give your resume, because you will be seen as well prepared and serious about your position if you have knowledge of the company.
Going to a job fair can be a very stressful experience, so I’ve found a few tips from about.com that may help you organize your thoughts a little better:
- Make sure to research the companies before you approach them.
- Be sure to bring at least 25 crisp copies of your resume to the career fair.
- Before the fair, be prepared to interview on the spot.
- Arrive to the career fair a little early to register if need be and to plan your ‘attack’. Look at the maps that you are provided with and route your path to the employers that you’ve targeted so you won’t be looking around like a lost puppy.
- After speaking with the employer, show your interest by asking them what the next steps are. Ask if it’s okay to call them or send follow-up letters a few days after the job fair ends. But if they say they’ll contact you, don’t press your luck too much.
- Collect business cards or contact info as you go, and do follow up within 24-48 hours with a thank-you letter to each of the representatives with whom you spoke
- Afterwards, revisit the job fair producers’ sites periodically. Many continue to list new and unfilled openings for some time after job fairs.
If you keep these tips in mind when planning for your next career fair, you’ll be fine. Granted, a job may not be guaranteed, but you’ll impress them, nonetheless.

Does Technology Rule Your Fitness Mind?

We all know that technology has taken over pretty much everything. From the way that we speak to one another, to how we get our news, even how we watch our favorite shows. Nowadays, with the new smartphone wave, there are applications that help you monitor your health and fitness. Going for a jog? Use CardioTrainter + Racing. Are you a calorie counter? Try Fast Food Calorie Counter. Just type in what you’re getting to eat from a local fast food restaurant, and it’ll calculate how many calories you’ve consumed for that day. There are so many apps out there, that it’s very easy for you to find what’s right for you. These apps are simple and convenient, so you don’t have to worry about wasting valuable workout time by trying to put your stats into your app. Granted, you’ll have to find a safe place to put your phone when exercising, which shouldn’t be too hard.
What app do you like to use when exercising?
Married by Skype? That’s Technology For You

There were undoubtedly many different scenarios taking place when various flights were delayed due to the volcanic ash sweeping through the air from Iceland. One such story was of a couple that didn’t let the ash deter their wedding plans; they got married on Skype.
Now, this is how you KNOW that many of our everyday mannerisms wouldn’t be possible without technology. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m totally dependent on technology. I don’t know where I’d be without my cell phone. I don’t think this couple knew where they would be without their computer.
Instead of despairing over no church, cake, or dress, the two lovebirds Sean Murtagh and Natalie Mead donned the nicest clothes they could find, and traded nuptials right in the airport. They even had balloons and cake, courtesy of the airport. Friends and family joined in on the celebration via webcam.
At the location of the actual wedding, spectators commented that it was just like a real wedding…only the bride and groom weren’t there. Now THAT’S love.
Have you heard of any other remarkable technology stories like this?
Hmm…Decisions, Decisions

Hi everyone! So, this weekend I went out and bought a Motorola Cliq with T-Mobile. Absolutely LOVING it so far! The only thing that’s going to be a major pain is the battery life. With so many things running at once, it’s no wonder that the battery would drain quickly!
I picked this phone after some long and hard decision making. I knew that I wanted a touch screen because, hey, they’re just plain cool. I also wanted something with a physical keyboard because, let’s face it, I know I can be a bit of a klutz when it comes to cellular devices and keeping them in my hands.
So my logic was that if my screen was slightly damaged, I could still use my keyboard to make calls. If I had a MyTouch and my screened broke, I’d seriously be up the metaphorical creek without a paddle.
Next, I thought Blackberry. But that doesn’t have a touch screen.
At least, not with T-Mobile. So it was between the G1 and the Cliq. Well, the Cliq is sleeker, slimmer, and newer. Decision made! And so far, I thinking that I made the right choice.
Have you all had any similar experiences with cell phone choices? Does anyone know anything that I should about the Cliq? Please let me know!

Ever since cell phones were introduced, people have been addicted to them. Many can’t get through a day without their cell phones attached to their hands or their hips, myself included. Now that smartphones are taking over, it’s even harder to leave your phone at home!
What about you? Would your entire day be in shambles without your phone, or do you forget that you even have one?
